Los Hornillos: Treatment and recovery of urban waste
Our facilities:
Los Hornillos urban waste treatment and recovery complex, promoted by the EMTRE, is part of the development of the «Facility 1» management project included in the Zonal Waste Plan for Zones III and VIII (Management Area 1) of the Valencian Community, and it is where the urban waste currently generated in Valencia city and its metropolitan area will be managed.
The metropolitan area of Valencia is made up of the capital and the 44 surrounding municipalities, with a total population of over 1,500,000 inhabitants.
The primary objectives of the design of the complex were the following:
A key point in the design of the facilities has been the mitigation of the environmental impact and the integration of these facilities, both from the functional and aesthetic points of view, with the surrounding environment. For this purpose, in addition to a careful architecture, the following measures were enforced:
- Elimination of odor emissions to nearby municipalities.
- Maximization of usable products.
- Elimination of the organic matter content of the reject fraction.
We work:
- 24 hours a day.
- 365 days a year.
- In order to manage an amount of urban waste close to
thousand tons of waste per year
