Ecoparks

UTE Los Hornillos is the managing company of the ecopark network of Entidad Metropolitana para el Tratamiento de Residuos.

Metropolitan network of ecoparks

What is an ecopark?

It is a closed and controlled facility for selective waste collection, where people can freely dispose of the waste they generate at home for which there are no specific containers in the traditional collection systems.

Why use the ecopark?

Selective collection is the only way to facilitate recycling and/or safe disposal of waste.

By taking our waste to the ecopark, we will avoid its uncontrolled abandonment, we will reduce the volume of trash that ends up in a landfill, we will save raw materials and energy by recycling and we will help with the appropriate treatment of all waste. Thus, we will contribute to minimize the problem for the environment caused by the waste that we have not been able to avoid.

What is done with the waste?

Once removed, the waste from the ecopark is transferred to plants where:

  • Usable materials are recycled and converted into new raw materials, thereby achieving significant savings in natural resources and energy, as well as preventing them from ending up in a landfill.
  • Products of special toxicity or hazard are treated prior to their recovery or disposal, in order to avoid environmental and health problems.
  • Only the fractions that are not usable are taken to controlled landfills.

Who can use the ecopark?

The ecopark is designed to provide services to residents of Valencia metropolitan area, specifically to all those persons who are up to date with the payment of the TAMER fee, although waste from small businesses, offices or services that are similar to home services may be accepted. Waste from industrial activities will not be accepted since there are specific channels for this type of waste.

Where are we?

The ecopark network in the metropolitan area of Valencia currently includes 20 fixed and/or classic ecoparks and 6 mobile ecoparks built to bring the service closer to the people.
